Philodendron Pink Princess is one of the most recognisable variegated aroids in cultivation. Its dark, glossy, near-black leaves are marked with sectors of pink variegation that range from soft blush to vivid magenta, creating a contrast that is bold and dramatic. The pink colouring is a natural result of reduced chlorophyll in certain cells, and because the variegation is unstable, every leaf is unique. Brighter light encourages more vivid pink variegation, but avoid direct sun which will scorch the pink tissue.
Origins
A cultivar of Philodendron erubescens, which is native to the tropical rainforests of Colombia and Ecuador. In the wild, the species grows as a hemiepiphyte, climbing tree trunks in the understorey.
