‘Triestina Da Taglio’ chicory is an Italian cut-and-come-again variety, prized for its tender, slightly bitter, light green leaves. Highly productive and ideal for repeated harvests, it regrows quickly after cutting. Sown close together, it produces fine foliage perfectly suited to fresh salads. When thinned, the plants may develop a small heart that naturally blanches during cooler months. This chicory is valued for its tender texture and its ability to add a distinctive touch to salads.
Height: 12 to 15 cm
Spacing: 25 to 35 cm
Sowing: Direct sowing (spring, summer, autumn)
Exposure: Full sun
Quantity per packet: 1,500 seeds, untreated, non-GMO
Cultivation method:
Sow directly outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked in spring, at a depth of about 3 mm, in rows spaced 45 cm apart. Maintain consistent moisture to encourage tender and rapid growth. Harvest by cutting the leaves about 2.5 cm above the base to allow for regrowth. Avoid cutting too low, as the central bud located above the root ensures the production of new shoots and prolongs the harvest.
