Direct sowing is recommended as soon as the soil can be worked in spring. Soak seeds in warm water for 8 hours before sowing to encourage germination , but do not exceed this time. Sow 2.5 cm (1″) deep , spacing plants 10-15 cm (4-6″) apart and rows 30-45 cm (12-18″) apart . For a fall crop , sow in late summer , avoiding hot, dry periods.
Harvest when the peas start to form in the pod and continue picking until they reach their maximum length of 7cm (3″) . For best texture and sweetest flavour , harvest them at half their size , about a week after flowering . Store them at 1-2C , where they will keep for about a week .
