• Germination Time:14 – 21 days, under optimal conditions. Allow 3-4 weeks for the unstratified seed to break dormancy and germinate, under optimal conditions.

Switchgrass has numerous roots, reaching to 10 ft. deep, as well as underground rhizomes, making it an important grass for use in conservation programs. Switchgrass grows to a height of 3 to 6 ft. tall, depending on the variety. With supplemental irrigation in areas with less than 20 in. of rainfall, Switchgrass is an excellent forage during Summer. It should be protected from grazing until established because of high palatability.
