The fruit is sweet when fully ripe with a mild tartness. Related to the tomatillo, Goldenberries are enclosed in papery calyxes. Once the fruit has ripened, it has an extraordinary shelf life of 30-45 days. We grow ours in a 45greenhouse in the winter where it produces fruit year-round but it tolerates 80 temperatures in summer.
