Sow all year round in tropical areas, 6mm deep in seed tray or punnet. Thin seedlings to 12cm (5in) pots when large enough to handle and grow on until plants are suitably large for planting out. Insert a stake into the soil before planting and space plants 50cm apart. Apply fertiliser regularly for solid growth.
Plant in early Spring to early Summer. Harvest as required through summer and autumn.
