Otherwise called a Japanese berberis this upright and dramatic shrub plant looks like an exploding rocket firework in your garden beds. In spring the leaves are orange and coral in colour and an abundance of small yellow flowers appear. As the summer continues the leaves intensify in colour and become wine-coloured turning dark red in autumn before falling to the ground leaving a dramatic silhouette of branches in the winter.
