Begonia dongoranensis

Begonia dongoranensis is a compact, rhizomatous begonia native to the tropical forests of Sumatra, Indonesia. It grows from a thick, creeping rhizome that spreads just below the soil surface, producing clusters of leaves while staying low and tidyideal for indoor growing.

Its main appeal is its dramatic foliage: ovate leaves with a dark brown to almost black centre, sharply contrasted by a bright green edge and a subtly quilted texture. New leaves often emerge glossy and richly coloured. As a forest understory plant, it thrives in warm temperatures and high humidity.

How to care for your Begonia –

Water: Only water your Begonia once the top soil feels dry, less so throughout Winter.

Light: Begonia love bright indirect sunlight.

Humidity: They love lots of humidity so would be very happy in a bathroom!

Temperature: They love the warmth, about 20 degrees C.
