The beautiful fronds of Japanese Shield Fern emerge coppery-pink before turning green as they mature. This fern enjoys a shady spot or being part of a border that enjoys full sunlight. It can also be grown in pots. Its almost evergreen, which means it looks good throughout much of the year. Team it with other shade lovers, such as hostas, or use as an accent in a brighter spot. Cut back any dead fronds in winter to encourage new ones to appear. Holder of the RHS Recommended: Award of Garden Merit.
