This is a green–leaved form of rock rose and makes a good medium–sized groundcover in the waterwise garden. Single flowers are short-lived, but will continue to grow all summer. In colder Western winter climates, it’s beneficial to plant rock rose where it gets some afternoon shade so the evergreen foliage doesn’t scorch in the winter sun. Native to the Old World (Europe), it’s a recommended companion plant for Blue Flax (Linum), Salvia sylvestris varieties, and Blue Fescue Grass (Festuca).
