Sempervivum globiferum subsp. preissianum

Sempervivum globiferum subsp. preissianum is a charming and hardy alpine succulent known for its tightly clustered, lime-green rosettes and its unique method of propagationby producing small, round, detachable “chicks” that roll away from the parent, giving it the nickname “roller hen and chicks.” Native to mountainous regions of Central and Eastern Europe, this subspecies thrives in rocky, well-drained soils and is exceptionally cold-hardy, enduring frost and snow with ease. Its symmetrical, softly hairy rosettes are compact and dense, making it perfect for rock gardens, alpine troughs, or crevice plantings. With minimal care requirements and excellent drought tolerance, S. globiferum subsp. preissianum is an ideal choice for gardeners seeking both resilience and botanical charm.
