Acer glabrum SEEDS

Acer glabrum seeds grow into the Rocky Mountain maple a compact deciduous tree or large shrub native to the temperate biome from Alaska south through the Rocky Mountains and Pacific coast ranges of western Canada and the United States, reaching north-western Mexico. The epithet glabrum means ‘smooth’ or ‘hairless’, referring to the glabrous (hairless) surface of the leaves and young shoots. The leaves are three to five-lobed with serrated margins and turn attractive yellow, orange and red in autumn. Family Sapindaceae.

Very cold-hardy and adaptable to a wide range of well-drained mountain soils. Full sun to partial shade. A good small maple for cold-climate and high-altitude gardens.
